Down by the lake at Daylesford, the Book Barn specialises in selling rare and unusual second hand books. It's a beautiful spot and besides browsing for books, you could have coffee and scones or a light lunch on the deck overlooking the tranquil waters of Lake Daylesford. Owner Andrew Green makes a point of selling new books by local authors as well as local food and wine products.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of The Bookbarn. It has been a great pleasure serving the book and coffee community for the last 12 years. We have loved being a part of the deep and diverse community of Daylesford during our tenure. We have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people throughout this community and it has been wonderful having you all in our lives as customers and friends. Being a part of so many people’s daily lives has been both humbling and rewarding.
The Bookbarn are fortunate enough to be a favourite location for the 2016 U3A Hepburn Shire Writing Circle. They have recently published a book with 19 tales written by the members and we were lucky enough to have our own article about the shop included! We hope everybody gets to read this lovely book and enjoy hearing stories from lovely local people.

We recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by online blog Penguin Edition.
Blethering with the local bookshop
The Book Barn, Daylesford, Victoria, Australia: a local gem
Andrew Green runs a delightful second-hand bookshop and cafe on the shores of Lake Daylesford, in a small country town about 90 minutes from Melbourne. It’s the perfect spot to indulge in some scones and tea (or some local wine) on the deck whilst contemplating life and your next book purchase.
I chatted with Andrew about his business and what it’s like to own a local bookshop.
So, why books?...
